The information provided here is for educational purposes only. Technically qualified personnel should install pumps and motors. We recommend that a licensed contractor install all new systems and replace existing pumps and motors. Failure to install in compliance with local and national codes and manufacturers recommendations may result in electrical shock, fire hazard, unsatisfactory performance, and equipment failure.

Operation

In a closed, automatic water system a pressure tank is used to store water and maintain system pressure between specified limits (such as 30 to 50 PSI). As the water level in the tank rises, tank air is compressed in the upper part of the tank until the upper pressure limit is reached (i.e., 50 PSI). At this "cut-out" point a pressure switch opens the electrical circuit to the motor and the pump stops. The compressed air in the tank acts like a spring pushing down on the water to create...

POTABLE WATER (often called Domestic water, Drinking water, or Culinary water) is suitable for human consumption or use in the preparation of food. Darco manufactures fiberglass underground water tanks for potable water storage. Such systems can serve individual homes or an entire subdivision based on the storage capacity requirements. As a general rule, potable water holding tanks should be sized to store no more than a 30 day water supply to maintain freshness and flavor.

The Residential Storage System illustrated in drawing #1 incorporates 6,000 gallons of domestic water storage and a submersible bottom suction relay pump which delivers water to the hydro-pneumatic pressure tank inside the dwelling served. The pump may be submerged inside the potable water storage tank itself, located in a remote wet well, in the basement of the building, or in a small pump house located above the tank. Choose the pump style and location which best fits your particular water system size...

Understanding Water Wells and How They Work

A well is the most common way to obtain groundwater for household use. A well is basically a hole in the ground, held open by a pipe (or casing) that extends to an aquifer. A pump draws water from the aquifer for distribution through the plumbing system. The depth to which wells are constructed is determined by factors such as 1) depth to groundwater, 2) the groundwater quality, and 3) the geologic conditions at the well site.

Permitting

Permits for well drilling are ALWAYS required here on the Delmarva Peninsula. Please contact us regarding the specifics of permitting requirements for your state.

Well Location

A well must be located so that it meets the minimum isolation distances (also known as “setback” or “separation” distances) required by your particular state. These distances are between the well and utilities, buildings, and potential sources of contamination on your property or...

Product Description

Walsh Waste has been running a septic tank cleaning and empting service in Galway since 1979.

A septic tank is simply a buried watertight tank which receives and provides primary treatment of raw waste. It works by separating and retaining settling and floatable solids.

Grease and other light materials float to the top and form a scum layer. Effluent with a very low solid content, leaves via the outlet ‘T-pipe’ to the percolation area. The organic solids undergo liquefaction and are partially broken down into dissolved acids and gases.

A septic tank consists of five components:

• A sewer pipe that carries waste from your home to the tank

• The tank itself

• A pipe carrying the treated waste water from the tank to your percolation area

• A percolation area to disperse the treated water

• The soil/media around the percolation area that provides the final treatment

There are a lot of questions to ask before an answer can be given:

What climate are you in? Is the garage heated or insulated? Is the hot water heater gas, electric, oil, solar, nuclear, gerbil-powered? Are going to do this yourself?

You can probably get some pretty good, free advice on this by calling one or two plumbers to come out and give you a quote and a recommendation.

It's a pretty big deal to move a hot water heater, even more so if it's gas or oil. There's electrical code (220v?), pipes, etc.

What about just putting in a nice pan on the second floor with a drain under it...might be cheaper and easier...
