I've recently purchased an old home with windows that have probably not been replaced since the thing was built in the 20's.

The siding on this home looks new and I'm taking it upon myself to replace the windows for better fuel efficiency and so that you dont feel like you're sleeping in an icebox when the temperature gets to the teens.

Is there any way to remove an old wooden window window (ropes and weights, storm window on outsides) with minimum damage to the outside trim?

There are replacement window inserts from most major window manufacturers. If your existing window frames are sound, you remove the stops (the vertical strips that hold the sashes in) and the upper and lower sashes. The new window includes a very thin frame with sashes preinserted that attaches and seals to the existing frame. This is done without removing or replacing inside and outside casings (face...

You all know that Trim Command for SSD is necessary to boost up the performance of a solid state drive. These commands safely remove the data that is no longer in use from SSD’s memory. This task also makes sure that disk write proceeds at full speed and empowers the drive for long durability. So, in this guide, we present you a sequence of Trim command that enhances Windows 10 Solid State Drive experience. You can also follow our guide to Trim SSD on Windows 10 Using PowerShell.

What is Trim command?

A Trim command lets your Windows 10 OS inform the SSD that certain parts of data are not considered in use and thus can be deleted without creating any harm. Moreover, this also saves the time in removing a specific block of data, especially, when you require additional space to store new data. Once this operation is over, the performance of the SSD highly improves. You may like to know How to Clone Hard Drive on Windows 10 to HDD / SSD.

the best way is to take the piece of casing hold it up onto the sides of the window with the disired jamb reveal (typically 1/4") and draw a line, next score this line with a sharp utility knife (this will prevent any further damage outside the casing area.

remove how as much as the wall you need untill you feel the the casing or trim will lay flat. a thick chisle pionted scraper or chisel works very well.

if the window jamb is sticking out past the wall. either you can cut down the jamb, a biscut joiner works well for this with a little bit of hand sawing at the corners or you can add a strip of wood (the thickness of the extended jamb past the wall)along the back of the casing flush with the edge with glue, clamp untill dry and sand the edge flush.

having uneven walls around window casing is a pain as i know the can cause your joints to appear gappy or the trim corners to be concaved/convexed

sometimes you will have to adjust your miters to a 44.5 deg, 45.5...

TRIM is a special ATA command which was developed to keep the performance of your SSD drives at peak performance for the duration of your SSD's life. TRIM tells the SSD controller to erase invalid and unused data blocks from the storage in advance, so when a write operation happens, it finishes faster because no time is spent in erase operations. Without TRIM automatically working at the system level, your SSD performance will degrade over time unless you manually use a tool which can send the TRIM command to it. Here is how to disable or enable the TRIM function for your solid state drives in Windows 10.

By default, TRIM is enabled for all SSDs. However, it is a good idea to check if TRIM is correctly enabled for your SSD in Windows 10 before proceeding. Refer to the following article:

Window tint is often used to provide privacy or protection from the sun, but you may find you want to remove the tinting. Since the tint is applied with removable adhesive, you can easily remove it, with the exception of the rear window. The only problem with the rear window is the delicate defrost lines that run across the window, under the tinting. If any of the tint breaks off, you can't use any sort of tool to remove it. You need to remove the entire piece of tint in a single piece but don't worry; there is a simple trick that you can do to get the job done.

Cut open a thick, black garbage bag so you have a large plastic sheet. The sheet needs to be at least as big as your rear window.

Spray the exterior side of the window with water and lay the bag on top. Smooth the bag down against the glass and trim the edges until the plastic is the same shape as the window.

Peel the plastic off the outside of the window and reapply to the inside so it is touching the...

Yeah, it baffled me too.

We dropped it off yesterday afternoon so my first thought was that someone must have tried to jimmy it in the parking lot but they said that it was in their bay overnight. So that made it even easier to hold them accountable. Dude said that he checked all the security video and he "didn't see anything". He insisted that there was no way that they could have done it because they do everything inside.

So, I took a closer look at the damaged molding and the edge isn't shredded or cut, it's deformed. Like someone used a flat-blade screwdriver to pry the molding away from the window and it permanently mashed it. Then it occurred to me that maybe they melted it. So, I asked the guy if the use any kind of heat-guns, both inside and outside and he looked a little thrown back. He hesitated and then stuttered a bit when he said "Ah, well... yeah. It's soft rubber so that might have done it."

BOOM!

And there it is. Mr. squeegee in the back...

TRIM is an essential feature for an SSD to keep it on top performance and helps the drive to last much longer. Here's how to make sure the feature is enabled on Windows 10.

Besides getting a speedy processor and as much RAM as you can afford, a Solid State Drive (SSD) also plays a very important role in making your PC fast. However, an SSD will stay on it best performance and last longer only if it's properly maintained.

TRIM is an ATA command set that was originally designed for the purpose of keeping a Solid State Drive at its optimal performance throughout its lifespan.

The TRIM feature allows Windows 10, or any supported operating system, to notify an SSD which blocks of data are no longer in use and can be safely wiped out to be writable again. Having this operation done ahead of time improves performance, as the drive won't have to spend time erasing a particular block when space is needed to store new data, ensuring the SSD reaches its advertised...

Good demo starts with a good layout and plan. Ideally, the frame around the window would have 1/8" (3mm) extra room on each side, top and bottom. You really don't want the wall to depend on the window for strength. My shed has walls that are '16" on center' which means the centers of the studs are 16" apart. Between 4 studs, there is 46.5", so I can only use one of the existing studs.

I decided to use the right side, and the top of the existing wall, and move the left stud, and fasten a beam on the bottom.

Before removing three studs from the wall, I was worried that the wall would sag, so I jammed another board under a strong part of the wall. I left this board in place until I refastened the left stud. I'm not sure if this was needed, but I don't regret it.

For demo, I needed to cut two studs, and remove the leftmost stud. All the studs were nailed in from the top, and from the outside (to fasten the siding), and from the bottom. The top and bottom nails...
