Is it crazy to put a hole on a fridge?

Putting your computer inside the fridge isn't necessarily a problem by itself, but it is no solution either. But first, I do have a few comments beyond what I already read in other answers.

Putting the warm laptop in a plastic bag or sleeve before placing it into the fridge is a bad idea. Warm air holds lots of moisture; as it cools, you will see condensation inside the bag, which will affect the computer. As others noted, when you take out the computer, parts of it that are cold may see condensation from ambient air. Putting the machine in the fridge does not remove the root cause of the overheating. It just puts more thermal stress on the computer by increasing the temperature difference between its hot parts inside and its outer surfaces or the air circulating through it.

But before resorting to using the fridge, I would first investigate why your computer overheats. Because it really shouldn't. You certainly shouldn't have a CPU running at 90 °C, throttling so badly that...

Whilst we like to treat the fridge as a safe-haven for all things food and drink, there are, in fact, foods you should not put in the fridge. Which ones are you guilty of?
Putting these foods into the fridge won’t cause you any harm; however, it can certainly cause a nuisance for your palate as textures and tastes become ruined. To avoid removing the taste from your food, here are some foods you shouldn’t put into the fridge.

I’m not sure if this is classified as a food so much as a food ingredient, but nonetheless, putting oils into the fridge tends to turn them into a stodgy, almost butter-spread-like consistency. This is more common with olive and coconut oils, which tend to solidify at cooler temperatures and take a long time to become liquid again. (Hint: If you do make this mistake, put the oil into the microwave for a quick burst to get the consistency back).

On May 29 put a pillow on your fridge to bring good luck and wealth to your home because it is Put a Pillow on Your Fridge Day.

The origins of Put a Pillow on Your Fridge Day are unknown, but common wisdom is that the holiday gives a modern day twist to the old tradition of putting linens in the pantry to bring luck. Why doing so will bring luck is anyone's guess.

How to Celebrate?

Put a pillow on your fridge to bring luck. Make sure you let your other family members know that you are celebrating the day lest they think you are turning the fridge into your bed.

Did You Know…

...that historians believe that pillows have been used by people to rest their heads while sleeping since 7,000 BCE?

Here you may read a thread about a real experiment (with a deep freezer and a little fridge). The conclusions in short are:

It's now time to remove the PC and end this experiment. Here are the results.

A fridge doesn't seem to have enough power to sustain a cold environment for computers. In fact the stress placed on the fridge lead to other people's fridges breaking down, however I think it's safe to say that it wouldn't happen in 15 minutes like people say. In short, fridges are best at cooling drinks not PCs. Hard drives don't seem to like the cold (or at least the ones I used didn't) and their life span wil be lowered considerably, so I recommend you leave hard drives outside the unit.

The deep freezer seems to show suprising results that even I was skeptical of, cooling the PC a reasonable amount. However like all cooling systems, and especially closed environment ones like this, condensation was a big issue.

To wrap it up, if...

I accidentally left the fridge door open and all the food went off.
My wife was furious. "What am I supposed to do with all this food?"
I said. "Look, love, don't make a meal out of it."

A guy driving a Yugo pulls up at a stoplight next to a Rolls-Royce. The driver of the Yugo rolls down his window and shouts to the driver of the Rolls, "Hey, buddy, that's a nice car. You got a phone in your Rolls? I've got one in my Yugo!"
The driver of Rolls looks over and says simply, "Yes I have a phone."
The driver of the Yugo says, "Cool! Hey, you got a fridge in there too? I've got a fridge in the back seat of my Yugo!"
The driver of the Rolls, looking annoyed, says, "Yes, I have a refrigerator."
The driver of the Yugo says, "That's great, man! Hey, you got a TV in there, too? You know, I got a TV in the back seat of my Yugo!"
The driver of the Rolls, looking very annoyed by now, says, "Of course I have a television. A Rolls-Royce is the finest...

This has to be one of the best re-purpose projects I have ever seen for the patio. A large refrigerator has been stripped down to it’s base components and turned into a nice cooler for holding a large amount of drinks.

Many people have expressed concern over the safety of this project. This is NOT a functioning refrigerator. The mechanics of the fridge have been removed and it is simply a cooler. So, no worries about the freon “not working” on it’s side.

Also, there has been concern about children getting locked in… there are no locks on this. It’s simply trimmed out doors that open and shut normally with no locking or latching system.

I was able to find a DIY tutorial for you guys too! This tutorial is on how to trim out a small cooler so it’s a bit different but just in scale!

Here’s the link to the tutorial…
