Lost pressure to my hot water

If problem is located at one tap:
Clean areator and check if problem solved.
Clog will probably be located at low point in water line.
Remove and replace shut off valve.
While shut-off valve is removed. Use stout wire, electrical-wire-puller or drain auger to run into pipe down to next elbow, and then flush line.
Hook air compressor to water line and push air into water line to help release clog. Flush line again. Read more and see image
If problem continues, then pipe has to be traced back to next elbow, and that elbow removed and cleaned or replaced.

If all hot taps have low pressure,
then problem is usually at or near water heater.
Clogs can be found inside the heat-trap nipples at water heater, or regular galvanived nipple, anywhere along the pipe, at elbow, tee, or valve.
Cogs can also happen at check valve, or mixing valve, or pressure valve if these things are installed.

If your water pressure in the whole house was 10psi, you'd know it! Water would trickle out of the faucets and your shower would be a dribble.

Every boiler system has a minimum pressure it requires, and most (if not all) have a safety cutout switch to stop it from firing if the pressure is too low. The manual should say what you need...10psi may be a little low. Just like in a car's radiator, you need some pressure to prevent the water from exploding into steam.

I seriously doubt your boiler is directly connected to the house's water supply without something in between. There has to be a valve of some sort, and often, there's an autofill valve (but it sounds like you don't have one of those, or if you do, it is either defective or misadjusted). There should be a backflow preventer between the boiler and the potable water supply, otherwise, you could get stagnant, metal saturated, nasty water back into your drinking water.

You may find, if the boiler will fire, that the...

Primarily this is caused by some other user of hot water. Like the cloths washer or dishwasher turning on. They drain the hot water available and so your shower goes cold.
Flexible PVC pipe
Hot water boilers contain a reduced orifice insert (presumably to maintain pressure in the boiler. These can become clogged with deposits that build up over the years. Any recent repairs of your water supply, can aggravate the situation providing contaminated water to add to the deposits. You probably need to clean or replace this orifice. If the previous answers have not helped solve the problem, try this: What is the source of energy that lifts and drives the hot water from the tank to your fixtures? It's the cold water, under pressure, pushing INTO the tank, that pushes the hot water OUT. If EVERY cold water outlet runs at full pressure, then start at the cold water feed at the heater. The union at the top of the heater will tell you if the water is getting there. The...

Brile,

I see possibly 2 scenarios....
1) The valve you shutoff at the water heater may be failling to fully open or is obstructed with debris. This is not a safety problem as much as a pain in the neck. Is this valve on the Hot line of the water heater or the cold supply to the water heater? Look on the top of the heater, the outlets usually are marked with either an H, C, Hot, Cold Or even a blue and red plastic ring on the housing of the heater by the water inlets of the tank.

2) The other scenario is the easier, "however I am doubtful this is the case since you say the loss in pressure/volume is on the hot side only". But check your aerators on the ends of your faucets. They unthread from the faucet, righty-tighty lefty-loosey. There is a screen and a flow reducing disc in there look for debris that is blocking flow of water. Clear the debris and reattach the aerator to the faucet and see if there is flow to it.

However, if it is the first...

i read all the comments. nothing worked.

here's my situation:
at my kitchen sink at the delta faucet, the water pressure suddenly dropped and steadily lowered to the point where it would take a few minutes to fill the coffee pot.

i removed all of the apparatus of the valve on top of the sink had my son hold a cup over the top, and i turned the water on individually (cold/hot). this verified i had tons of pressure.

i removed the filter apparatus where the water dispenses from and although there was some blockage there because of all the years of filtering the water, it wasn't enough to cause the sudden drop in pressure.

i then closely inspected all the items in the valve apparatus ( i don't know what they're called - springs, rubber gaskets, water control ball, etc ) and determined there was nothing wrong with them, despite being 12 years old.

i thought about it and reasoned that there had to be some sediment in the actual line that is the...

Hello, everyone. I'm Joshua Clement, and today I'm going to talk to you about how to fix no water pressure in your hot water heater. Now there's only a couple things that will prevent the water from flowing through your water heater and reducing that water pressure. One of those is your shut off valve. Your shut off valve is designed so that way you can shut off the water and work on your water heater. A lot of times there's corrosion that is created because of the walls on the shut off valve that actually slow down your water pressure. One thing you can do is actually move your water shut off valve back and forth to break loose all that sediment and corrosion that's on the inside of the pipes. Another thing you can kind of knock it a little bit to help vibrate that stuff loose. Something else you want to check is all of the main lines coming into your water heater. Make sure that there's no shut off valves there, that have been twisted a little bit or have...

Water leaving the hot water heater should flow at the same pressure as the cold water in your home. If it does not, a problem exists at the water-heater tank itself or in the lines that distribute hot water throughout the house. Annual maintenance helps to fix the problem.

Poor Pressure

Hard-water buildup in the pipes can block water flow into and out of the hot water heater, resulting in low pressure. Sediment in the hot water tank has the same effect. A kinked flexible water line -- especially the accordion-style copper pipes commonly used with hot water heaters -- can also reduce flow. If the shut-off valve leading to the water heater is partially closed, water pressure from the unit drops. Too-small water distribution lines and too many sharp bends between the hot water heater and faucets exacerbate the problem. When the water pressure coming into the home is low -- beneath 40 gallons per minute -- this also affects the pressure of the hot water, but you should...
