Remove chamberlain wall unit

This thing worked OK for awhile, but today came home and found the garage door wide open, with the wall pad (888LM) non-functioning (no light on, button non-functional). I trouble shot it a bit, and see that the garage door opener works just fine, just the wall control decided to suddenly die and leave my garage wide open. Not happy about that. Looks like the thing is completely dead. Past warranty date, of course. Funny how a spectacular fail can suddenly turn a 5-star review into a 1-star....

My original review....

My wife forgets whether she's closed the garage door. Sometimes miles away from the house, we have to go back to check. I wanted something that would auto-close the door if she forgot. I first looked into various garage-door "add-ons" like Garage Door Butler (which looks like a good product...), etc., but didn't want the hassle of installation, having additional hardware, etc.

I decided to try this first, as the installation looked straightforward (it is)...

1. The Netherlands is very flat and part of the country is below the level of the sea. The people there have to make sure that the walls by the sea are very strong. Usually, there is no problem, but in January 1995, it rained and rained for more than two weeks. The water in the canals and rivers rose higher and higher, and thousands of people had to leave their homes because of the danger of floods. They went to other towns and waited until the water level fell again.

2. Hurricanes are very strong winds that come from the sea. Warm wet air rises in a spiral and goes faster and faster over 160 km per hour. In 1992, Hurricane Andrew hit Florida. The people there had to leave their homes and move to other towns and wait. When the hurricane arrived, it killed 15 people and destroyed thousands of buildings. More than 50,000 people had nowhere to live.

3. Sometimes in desert climate, it does not rain for a very long time. This happened between 1968 and 1974 in the Sahel, in...

Hey there, this is really strange... my name is Don as well and I too am having the same exact issue. It's a 1/2HP craftsman door opener from 1999 that's been working just fine up until this week. The remotes work fine, the external wireless keypad all work fine, but the button on the wall unit doesn't.

When the garage door opener is in vacation mode, you get a constant quick blink of the light. You enable and disable this mode by holding the lock button for 3 seconds.

This is completely different than that. The light flashes MUCH faster than that and no matter what you do, it won't go away and the hard wired button on the wall does NOT work. On my hard wired keypad, I have the pad that has the motion sensor for the light, a lock button, a light button, and of course the big door open button with the green light in it.

On this wall unit, the green light flashes MUCH faster than vacation mode, you can not get it to stop no matter what you do, I've tried holding...

The steps below will help you resolve issues with door control panels made for garage door openers manufactured after 1993 that are not MyQ enabled or do not have Security + 2.0 technology.

Proceed to the second part of this article if you have a MyQ Garage Door Opener. MyQ enabled garage door openers have Security +2.0 technology. If you have a MyQ garage door opener, the wall door control panel uses a 2-way encrypted serial communication.

Test and isolate issues with the door control panel

Remove the red and white wires for the door control panel from the back of the motor unit. These wires are located on the same side as the hanging antenna.
Note: You do not need to disconnect the wires for the safety reversing sensors. Use a jumper wire to jump (make a connection) between the red and white terminals on the motor unit. If your opener does not activate using the jumper wire, replace your receiver logic board. If your opener activates using the jumper...
