What connector/adaptor do I need for my drain hose?

Good work around. :-) I've been doing something similar, but I had a plumber friend do the connection to the rear of the machine a bit more formally and I used a regular short garden hose, the type that you can roll back into its case by cranking a handle on the side. I got the idea to do this from my experience living in Asia and the Middle East. Most houses there do not have laundry hookups, so SHARP, HAIER, LG and others make the machines they sell there with regular electric plug and with hoses that operate pretty much like you have done. Here in the states, HAIER sells a couple washing machines that work on kitchen sink hookups. I've got a friend who's using one and he seems fine with it, . . other than it not holding too much ( 6 pound max, I think ). He can do basic clothing, sheets, pillow covers, table cloths, but has to take blankets and large things like that to the local laundromat...

Choose the right spot.

Depending on your living situation, you may be limited in your options of places to put a washing machine. However, you should try to find a spot that will reduce the risk of uneven loads, leaks, and potential damage to your appliance or your home. It is also important to have access to hot and cold water, a drain and an electrical outlet that can support your washer and dryer.

[1] A level, hard-floor surface is an ideal location for a washing machine. Make sure the room temperature will not fall below 32 degrees Fahrenheit (0 degrees Celsius). The washer should also be away from sources of heat like your furnace, radiators, or fireplaces. Because of the utility requirements, most houses and apartments have specific areas intended for use with a washer and...

John Torrance - GE Dishwasher Won't Drain

So, you own a GE Dishwasher for a couple years, and now it won't drain? Yeah, welcome to the club. Mine started having this the same problem after about five years. In reading up on this problem, I see many people ran into this sooner. Maybe I'm just lucky.

I can, however, tell you how to fix this problem. Best of all, you probably don't need any tools, and the repair is free. But, first, I have to mention the recall. My model, the GLD4400N (specs and review), and many other models have been recalled by GE due to a fire hazard. Please go to The GE Recall Web Page, click on one of the Dishwasher recalls near the top, then put in your model and serial number to see if yours was recalled. If it's included in the recall, your options are a free repair or a rebate on the purchase of a new GE Dishwasher.

Also, there are many models of GE dishwashers, and yours may not look like this at all. If that's the case,...
