What is this piece inside the spigot supply hole, and what is it used for?

What is spigot... it's a piece of software to run a minecraft server. "Surely," you say, "there must be more than one piece of software for doing this!" And indeed, there is.

It all started with the default server made by Mojang. It wasn't very customizable, but it got the job done. Then hMod came along. It allowed you to write plugins, and thus customize your server. Bukkit was the spiritual successor to hMod, with a new API. Spigot came along, and it was a fork of Bukkit that focused on performance, and had many improvements in that respect.

And there were others: CanaryMod, Cauldron, and more that I can't remember.

The rest is, as they say, recent history.

Stuff happened, and any software based off of craftbukkit was removed from the internet. Spigot pushed through, replacing the DMCA'd code, leading us to today. Today there is Sponge, which seems to be actively under development, Spigot, and Spigot forks. But there may be more...

Sorry for the huge...

The new water line running to the outdoor spigot could actually be spliced into the existing cold water line at any point—bearing in mind, of course, that no cut may be made at any point between the curb/meter and your main shut-off. If you are splicing in the new line (and hence, cutting an existing line) anywhere near the main shut-off be sure you do it above the main shut-off.

Remember, your home’s water service comes from the curb or a meter at the curb. This main water line (the intake) is joined to your home’s cold-water line by a special fitting. Immediately after this fitting there is a main shut-off valve. When closed, the main shut-off shuts off all water to your house. You use this to shut off the water supply from the curb when you need to do work on the plumbing, or in an emergency if a water line breaks. If you cut the line anywhere between the main shut-off and the curb/meter, you will have no way of turning of the resulting geyser of water—except at the meter...

A hole punch is a hand-held device that resembles pliers, with an interior bite featuring a rounded steel die or tooth on one head. This die passes through a hole in a steel tongue before making contact with the opposite head. By placing paper between the die and tongue, then squeezing the handles together, a perfectly formed hole is punched through the paper.

The single hole punch is commonly used at events to punch tickets so that they cannot be redeemed twice. Other uses include tracking customer loyalty by issuing a card, then punching a hole each time a successive purchase is made. When the card is full, the customer might earn a free item or a one-time discount.

Though the typical punch delivers a 0.25 inch (0.635 cm) round hole, there are other types of punches. A specialty punch can punch the shape of a fish, heart, crescent moon, maple leaf, or one of countless other designs. Some can even punch out a small word, like "yes." Using a specialty hole punch for...

The end connection of a fitting that is to be assembled into another fitting is called the “Spigot.” The spigot end of a fitting has the same outside diameter as pipe. The common female connection of PVC fittings is referred to as the socket or hub, and the spigot end of a fitting can be inserted into a Hub or Socket.

After several decades of use, the galvanized steel pipe that led to our outdoor faucet was so corroded that it was like rubbing Vasoline between your toes to repel mosquitoes: Useless. The spigot had also seen better days and it was time to replace it.

A few years ago, I would have hired a plumber to do this job. This time, I got my six year old daughter to do it. Yes, she's in kindergarten.

Now that I discovered flexible PEX tubing and SharkBite pipe fittings I find it so easy that it's actually fun to do plumbing. In fact, it's easy enough that when my six year old daughter asked if she could help replace the outdoor faucet I embraced the chance to entertain her while accomplishing what was once considered a tedious house chore. With new push-fittings there are no torches, glues or solders required. It's like putting together a kid's toy.

With my Kindergarten-Cop(per) assistant by my side, here's how I replaced my faucet in under an hour and a half (including...

The Goal
We (my brother and I) needed to set ourselves up a small grow. Like you, the readers of this forum, we wanted a steady supply, and hefty stash, of quality smoke. We also like the ability to do it. We've had very successful grows, on a larger scale, when we first used the method detailed in these posts. We find it very satisfying doing this. Almost as satisfying as smoking the stuff!

The plan
To use our proven method of growing some quality herbage using our method of hydroponic growing.
This method has worked great for us in the past and we were determined to successfully modify the operation to fit our current location limitations.

The conditions and limiting factors
This time our grow location and limiting factors are numerous. We had to significantly modify our normal operation to fit the following criteria:

Limited space
No "proper" ventilation
Temperature management
As many of you know the things that we found...

What’s inside a pc system?

The nerve centre of a PC is the central processing unit or CPU. This unit is built into a single microprocessor chip – an integrated circuit – which executes program instructions and supervises the computer's overall operation. The unit consists of three main parts:

the control unit, which examines the instructions in the user's program, interprets each instruction and causes the circuits and the rest of the components – disk drives, monitor, etc. – to...
